Des observations et echantillonnages des hippocampes sont effectues dans le lagon du Grand Recif de Toliara, de l fannee 2006 a 2008, sur les trois especes d fhippocampes inventoriees : Hippocampus borboniensis, H. fuscus et H. histrix. Cette derniere espece est quasi absente dans la capture. H. borboniensis et H. fuscus sont recrutes respectivement a une longueur totale moyenne de 2,4 cm et de 3 cm correspondant a l fage de 3 et de 2 mois. La premiere maturite survient a une longueur totale moyenne de 6,1 cm a l fage de 8 mois pour H. borboniensis et de 5,58 cm a l fage de 8 mois et demi pour H. fuscus. To identify the effective characters and their relative importance in improvement of BNF, two separate field experiments were conducted under irrigated and rain-fed organic managements of dry, Pannonian region of east Austria. The experiments were laid out in an α-lattice design with two replications and 18 genotypes (eight Iranian ecotypes and ten European cultivars). Plant height was positively and significantly correlated with leaf area index (LAI) and shoot dry matter (DM) under both conditions. Positive correlations were found between biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) and shoot DM (r = 0.61** and 0.87**, irrigated and rain-fed management, respectively). Adults of Cyclocephala distincta are flower visitors of Neotropical palms (Arecaceae) and commonly found in the Atlantic Forest of Pernambuco, Brazil. Males and females were collected in the wild and subjected to captive rearing and breeding. The egg hatching rate, the life cycle, longevity of immatures and adults, and oviposition parameters in captivity were analyzed. The average duration of the life cycle of C. distinctawas 108.2 days (n = 45). The egg stage lasted on average 10.9 days, and the egg-hatching rate was 73.9%. The immature stage lasted on average 93.4 days. ABSTRACT In this study, we aimed to evaluate pepper lines and hybrids (Capsicum chinense and C. annuum) in order to obtain information on agronomic performance, heterosis, heterobeltiosis, phenotypic correlations and genetic dissimilarity. We evaluated lines PIM-030, BGH-433, BGH-4285, Numex Sweet, Numex Garnet and simple hybrids Numex Sweet x PIM-030, Numex Garnet x PIM-030 and BGH-4285 x BGH-433. The research was conducted with eight treatments and four replications in a greenhouse, at campus JK of UFVJM. Twenty two agronomic traits were evaluated. In coffee, bioreactors are the most promising way for scaling-up micropropagation processes, particularly somatic embryogenesis. The availability of an efficient somatic embryogenesis process would allow the rapid mass production of heterozygous materials such as selected Coffea canephora clones and F1 Arabica hybrid varieties.
